TEACHING WITH VISUAL
SYMBOLS
Teaching with visual symbols is also a part of the learning
process inside a classroom or learning facility. It is best to use visual
symbols in describing a thing that can’t be seen directly inside the classroom.
And it serves as an effective tool as a form of instructional materials in
which with visual symbols alone, you have an array of teaching materials to
choose from. By the used of visual symbols,
it keep your teaching strategies more effective and efficient in a way that you
have a lot of references or resources to use in terms also of the diversity of
learners. But of course it requires more preparation, time, effort and more
learning in your part.
In my experience during the demo using this kind of method,
I can say that it is a good technique to catch the attention of the learners
and to test the cognitive skills they have like in motivation also by the used
of Flash cards they will already have an idea about the topic. And also visual
symbols help more in the discussion proper to elaborate and discuss the lesson
clearly to understand it by the learners because we know that most students are
visual learners so teacher must provide visual presentation like what I used, a
Map. On the other hand, the proper use of visual symbols will contribute to a
conducive learning.
Hence, Visual Symbols really benefit
both learners and teachers in the sense that there are a lot of things that can
be done or can be solve with the use of the following. So that’s the reason why
it is a part of the learning process inside a classroom.
